Albatross was founded in 1985 to produce models, props and special effects for the film and television industry, initially in the field of TV advertising. This expanded into making scale models for architects and planning departments, and also the manufacturing sector, designers and photographers.
During the 90’s we moved successfully into exhibition and display, then more recently into the museum world.
Currently we not only supply our original client-base, but are also involved in the production of larger themed-sets for museums and tourist attractions. These have included high-pofile contracts for sites such as The Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon, The Royal Horticultural Gardens at Ripley and The Leeds City Museum. During the past three years we have also worked on projects overseas, including major contracts in Jordan, America and The Arab Emirites.
One of our more recent projects was in association with The Museum of Scottish Industrial Life at Summerlee in Scotland, which involved the design and construction of a scale replica of a blast furnace, eight metres in height.
We are now based in Hitchin/Hertfordshire and our modelmaking team of experienced and reliable technicians is capable of producing just about anything that you might wish to throw at them.
